Hell's Half Acre Photos

Here are just a few photos from our April camping trip to Hell's Half Acre. As you can see, lots and lots of lava rock cliffs to climb. We'll have to go back, because the boys couldn't get enough climbing done.

Important Scout Camp Information

Drumroll, please:

Thanks to the successful fundraising auction, scouts will only need to pay $40 to attend scout camp this summer, rather than the full $185. Please submit your payment to the bishopric by the end of June and let your humble scoutmaster know the payment has been made. Payments also may be given directly to me, with checks made out to the Ammon 11th Ward.

Scouts also need to complete a BSA physical exam to attend. I have a handful of Scouts who have completed a new physical, but the rest of you need to get on it.

Parents planning to attend scout camp this summer need to complete BSA Youth Protection Training, a brief computer-based course. Course information may be found here.

First Cycling Tuesday

Just a reminder that we will be taking our first 10-mile bicycle ride for the Cycling Merit Badge Tuesday, starting at 7 pm.

We will be cycling rain or shine, unless it's a downpour. That being said, however, scouts and leaders should come prepared:
  • Eat dinner beforehand. I'll try to have snacks available, but it won't be much.
  • Bring a water bottle.
  • Bring a jacket. Rain gear or a waterproof jacket would be appropriate.
  • I have access to a few helmets and at least one extra bicycle for Scouts who don't have them.
  • If you need to contact me during the ride, I will have my cell phone. Please call my wife Michelle at home to get the number (I'd rather not post it publicly).
We'll try to have your boys home by 9 pm.

If the rain is falling hard, we will still have Scouts -- but at the church, where we'll work on the book work for Cycling or Communication merit badges.
