January Activities

Here's a brief overview of what we've got planned for Troop 125 in the month of January:

Jan. 7: Klondike Derby preparation. We'll go over what's happening at the Klondike Derby at Krupp Scout Hollow on Feb. 28-March 1. That includes merit badge work (Scouts will pass off the Fire Safety Merit Badge) and the Klondike competition.

Jan. 10-11: Camping and winter fun at the Millers Cabin. Meet at the Davidsons at 5 pm.

Jan. 14: Requirements catch-up day. We'll start working on the Communication merit badge and see what other work needs to be done to get other merit badges and rank advancements completed.

Jan. 21: Combined YM/YW activity TBA.

Jan. 28: Games and patrol organization. We'll work on patrol flags, yells, etc., to be ready for the Klondike Derby.

Volunteers Needed

One of the things I want to accomplish over the Christmas holiday is to inventory the Scout trailer to see what we have, what's broken and needs to be replaced, and what's missing. If you're interested in helping (or if one of your boys is missing some gear) come over to the Tiebreaker Church at about noon on Friday, Dec. 27, as I poke around in the trailer. Should take about an hour. (If the time changes because I haven't spoken to my wife about this yet, I'll post an updated message here.)

Soon -- hopefully very soon -- you'll see this blog fill with news, activities, calendars and other important news and events useful to Scouts and Scout parents affiliated with Ammon Troop 125 of the Boy Scouts of America. As your Scoutmaster I want to make sure I'm doing my best to provide you with useful, up-to-date information so you'll know what we've got planned for the Scouts, what you can do to help, and a place where you can find me quickly when you want to let me know what I can do better. You'll also soon see articles written by your Scouts, photos taken by your Scouts, and other Scout-related stuff done by your Scouts because I'm a big believer in getting Scouts involved and taking the lead and being in charge. So, more to come.
